Prerequisites for participation

The course is open for Ph.D. students and researchers interested in acoustics and medical ultrasound imaging. The participants need a basic knowledge of linear acoustics as given in:

L. E. Kinsler , A. R. Frey ,A. B. Coppens and J. V. Sanders: Fundamentals of Acoustics,  Third edition,  John Wiley & Sons,1982

Familiarity with signal and image processing  like basic 1D and 2D Fourier transforms is required.

A working knowledge of Matlab is needed in order to complete the exercises. No prior knowledge of the ultrasound simulation program Field II is needed, although it would highly be beneficial.

You must your own laptop with at least Matlab installed and preferably with Field II installed also.
